Martin Keown: Current Everton squad 'most talented to play at Goodison'

Keown believes the current Everton side is the most talented to play at Goodison Park, praising the athleticism of Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate.

The former Everton defender believes the current side is better than the one that won the league and FA Cup treble in 1966.

Keown, who played for Everton from 1984 to 1989, believes the current side has the potential to be one of the best in the Premier League.

"I think this is the most talented Everton side I've seen in my lifetime," Keown said.

"They have a great blend of youth and experience, and they're playing with a lot of confidence at the moment."

Keown was particularly impressed with the performances of Godfrey and Holgate in the win over Liverpool.

"They were both outstanding," Keown said.

"They're both young players with a lot of potential, and they're only going to get better."
